Book: XQuery
Author: Priscilla Walmsley
I picked up this book because I started a job where we were using XQuery to interface with a Mark Logic enterprise search server. I liked the tech and it’s the job where I finally learned how xpath worked.
The job itself was probably my biggest professional failure. I only stayed there 8 months and it was 4 months too long (but there was a recession on). The company was unethical in its business practices and the owner encouraged horrible and condescending professional working relationships and agreements. We did not rise above his worst instincts.
This is the job that finally made me decide I was done working for other people and I needed to strike out on my own.
But XQuery! Cool tech and easier to use than XSLT. Would use again.
